We are now past the year and a half mark of Obama’s presidency. As expected, thus far the second year has not been any better than the fisrt. The point of this article however, is not to reiterate to the reader how Obama is the same as Bush. Such things have been written, spoken, and recorded numerous times before. And yet, while there is a growing awareness of the need for real change, i.e. change Obama is not offering, apathy and inaction predominates. Perhaps important information, though readily available, is not reaching people to the extent that it needs to. Perhaps people are hesitant to join a movement that points out problems but tends not propose solutions. Perhaps people know that there is a problem but are unaware of the nature of it. Perhaps upon becoming more aware of it, people become increasingly intimidated, resulting in denial or hopelessness.

On February 20, 2010 WACC attended “Obama Year One Taking Stock: Where Are We and Where Do We Go From Here?” put on by the New New Deal Coalition at Roosevelt University, downtown Chicago. It was a panel discussion featuring activists Mel Rothenberg, Tom Balanoff, Judith LeBlanc, Dr. Anne Scheetz, Cristobal Cavazos, and Amy B. Dean. The following is a presentation of some of the discussion. The video does not present solutions, but merely some things to consider.
